• The Beating Retreat ceremony is completed at the historic Vijay Chowk in New Delhi.
• Uttar Pradesh’s tableau based on the theme ‘Mahakumbh 2025 - Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’, has won the best tableau award at the Republic Day Parade held on 26th January.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 38th National Games in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, yesterday evening.
• Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been crowned the ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year 2024. Jasprit Bumrah picked up 71 wickets from 13 Test matches in 2024. Jasprit Bumrah has been also honoured with the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2024.

• Uttarakhand is set to become the first state to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) today, marking a historic move. UCC will be implemented throughout Uttarakhand and will also be applicable to the state's residents living outside.
• World No.1 Jannik Sinner successfully defended his singles title after beating second seed Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in the final of Australian Open.
• In the Women’s Hockey India League (HIL), Odisha Warriors lifted the inaugural edition title after they registered 2-1 victory over JSW Soorma Hockey Club in the Final.
• In Athletics, India’s Jyothi Yarraji broke her own national record and won the gold medal in the women’s 60m indoor hurdles at the Meeting de Nantes Métropole 2025 in France.

• President Droupadi Murmu has approved the conferment of 139 Padma Awards for the Year 2025. For the year 2025, the President has approved the conferment of 139 Padma Awards including one duo case (in a duo case, the Award is counted as one). The list comprises 7 Padma Vibhushan ( 3 Posthumous), 19 Padma Bhushan (4 Posthumous) and 113 Padma Shri Awards (6 Posthumous).
• In the Australian Open Tennis women’s singles final, American Madison defeated two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka by 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.

• The World Bank has projected 6.7 per cent growth for India, surpassing global growth of 2.7 per cent.

Olympic medallists Manu Bhaker, Harmanpreet Singh, chess world champion Gukesh D and para-athlete Praveen Kumar have been named recipients of the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna. • India’s rural poverty has declined significantly to 4.86 per cent in the financial year 2023-24, compared to 25.7 per cent in the financial year 2011-12. According to the State Bank of India’s research on the consumption expenditure survey, urban poverty has fallen to 4.09 per cent from 13.7 per cent over the last twelve years.
• World Braille Day is being observed today. The day is observed annually to raise awareness about the importance of Braille as a means of communication for blind and partially sighted people.
