• Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai sworn in as the new president of Afghanistan.
• India's discus thrower Seema Punia wins Gold Medal in Asian Games medal with a best throw of 61.03 metres.
• Sania Mirza and Saketh Myneni win the Gold Medal in mixed doubles tennis event in Asian Games.

28th September:
• O Panneerselvam named as the new chief minister of Tamil Nadu after J Jayalalithaa imprisoned for corruption.
• HL Dattu today swears as the New Chief Justice of India.
• President's Rule imposed in Maharastra after the ruling Congress Party reduce to minority following withdrawal of support by NCP.
• India's Yogeshwar Dutt wins a gold medal in the 65kg freestyle wrestling in Asian Games after defeating Zalimkhan Yusupov of Tajikistan 3-0 in the final.

27th September:
• Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has been sentenced to 4 years in jail after a Bangalore court found her guilty of corruption case in her assets value. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 100 crore on her.
• Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the UN General Assembly.

26th September:
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in New York on a five day visit to the US.
• Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan resigns from his post as his party Congress lost majority after the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) withdrawing support.

25th September:
• BJP and Shiv Sena today end its 25 year old alliance and decide to contest state election in Maharastra independently.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the "Make in India" campaign in New Delhi.
• Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) released its first images taken of Mars.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for America on a six-day visit.
• Indian cricketer Kapil Dev has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award at a ceremony in the House of Lords.

24th September:
• India Space Research Organisation successfully inserted its spacecraft 'Mangalyaan' in the Martian orbit around 8 am today and became the first country to successfully carry out such a mission in its maiden attempt.
• The Supreme Court cancelled 214 of 218 coal block that are allotted by various governments between 1993 and 2011.

23rd September:
• Hindi movie Liars Dice is selected as the Oscar entry by Film Federation of India (FFI) for next year. The film is directed by Geetu Mohandas.

• Jitu Rai wins the India's first gold medal at the Asian Games after clinching the men's 50 metre pistol event.

• The People of Scotland rejects the referendum of independence from Britain in a historic voting.
• Famous mandolin player and musician Uppalapu Srinivas died in Chennai on Friday due to illness at the age of 45.
• The 17th Asian Games starts from today in Incheon, South Korea.
• President Barack Obama nominated Indian-American Richard Rahul Verma as the next US Ambassador to India.
• Asia's only grand slam singles champion China's Li Na announced her retirement from tennis.

18th September:
• The people of Scotland voted in a referendum to choose whether to become an independent nation or stay within the United Kingdom.
• India's first mission to Mars Mangalyaan which was launched November, 2013 enters last lap.
• India's hockey team captain Sardar Singh will be the flag bearer at the opening of Asian Games in South Korea.

• Chinese President Xi Jingping arrives India on a three day visit.
• 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medalist boxer Manoj Kumar awarded with Arjuna Award after denied earlier by Kapil Dev led committee.

16th September:
• In the By election poll result BJP wins 13 seats, SP 8 and Congress wins 7 out of the 32 assembly seats held in different states.
• In the three Lok Sabha seats election, BJP, TRS and SP wins one each.

14th September:
• Hindi Diwas is celebrated across the country to promote the Hindi language.
• Indian shuttler HS Prannoy wins the Indonesian Masters Grand Prix after defeating Firman Abdul Kholik by 21-11 22-20 in the final.

13th September:
• By poll election held for 3 Lok Sabha, 33 assembly seats in 10 states in India.
• Champions League T20 matches starts from today. The tournament will be host by India.

12th September:
• Election Commission will conduct state election on Maharashtra and Haryana for their next government on October 15 while the results will be declared on October 19.

11th September:
• The 13th Anniversary of 9/11 incident observed in America.
• US President Barack Obama approved the U.S. military campaign against the Islamic State, authorizing U.S. airstrikes in Syria along with expanded airstrikes in Iraq.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited flood hit Jammu and Kashmir to assess the situation and declared it a "national-level disaster" with a special assistance of Rs.1,000 crore for the state.

2nd September:
• India wins the ongoing ODI Series in England 3-0 with one match still remaining. This is the first win in a bilateral series in England after 24 years.
