• 5 of the 12 convicts have been sentenced to death while the other seven were given life imprisonment for the 2006 serial train blasts case by a special MCOCA court in Mumbai.
• Naval warship INS Kochi, indigenously built largest warship has been commissioned by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
• Bangladesh has been selected for a berth in ICC Champions Trophy for the first time since 2006. Bangladesh has replaced the West Indies who failed to secure position in top eight in ICC ranking.
• Russia launches airstrikes against Islamic State in Syria.
