22nd April-2024, Current Affairs:

• President Droupadi Murmu presented the Padma Awards at the Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi today. Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian Awards of the country, are conferred in three categories – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri for the exceptional and distinguished service.
• World Earth Day, also known as International Mother Earth Day is observed today.

21st April-2024, Current Affairs:

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvana Mahotsav at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital, on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.
• India delivered the first batch of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines. In January 2022, the Philippines concluded a 375-million-dollar deal with India for three batteries of the shore-based, anti-ship variant of the BrahMos, becoming the first export customer for the joint venture missile between India and Russia.

19th April-2024, Current Affairs:

• Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi has been appointed as the next Chief of the Indian Navy. He will succeed Admiral R Hari Kumar who is retiring on 30th of this month.
• The voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections has begun. A total of 102 Parliamentary constituencies which include 11 Lok Sabha seats reserved for ST and 18 seats reserved for SC are going to polls in this phase. These constituencies are spread over 17 states and four Union Territories. Besides, polling is being held for electing new legislative assemblies in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim in a single phase today.
• Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful flight test of Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile today. The missile was test-fired from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.

• Ram Navmi is being celebrated in the country with fervour today.
• Campaigning for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls ends today. 102 seats spread over 17 states and four Union Territories will go to polls on Friday.

16th April-2024, Current Affairs:

• The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the result of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023. A total of 1,016 candidates have been recommended for appointment. This year, Aditya Srivastava secured the first position, followed by Animesh Pradhan in second place, and Donuru Ananya Reddy in third.
• Twenty-nine Maoists, including a senior rebel leader Shankar Rao were killed by security forces during an encounter in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district.

• Sunrisers Hyderabad slammed 287 runs against RCB to register the highest-ever total in the history of the Indian Premier League.
• In Greece, a new report has stated that the population decline in the country has reached alarming levels, and it could become the world’s first country to suffer “population collapse”.

• The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an advisory to the e-commerce companies, directing them to remove all drinks and beverages including Bournvita from the category of 'health drinks', on their portal and platforms.
• IIM-Ahmedabad is among the top 25 institutions globally for business and management studies while IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Calcutta are among the top 50, according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject.

• Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated today.
• Sixty-nine Indian universities made it to the rankings with 424 entries in the 2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject.
• Simon Harris became Ireland's new prime minister, replacing Leo Varadkar after he abruptly quit last month citing personal and political reasons.

• The Delhi High Court today dismissed a plea by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is in judicial custody in a money laundering case linked with the alleged excise scam, challenging his arrest.
• The 9-day long festival of Navratra, which marks the worship of Goddess Durga, began today with religious fervor and gaiety.

4th April-2024, Current Affairs:

• Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi sworn in for his third term as President. Sisi had won the Presidential election with 89.6 percent of the vote in December last year.
• The filing of nominations for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections end today. The Elections will be held in 88 Lok Sabha seats in 12 States and Union Territories.
• In Tennis, Italy’s Jannik Sinner won the Men’s Singles title of Miami Open tournament in the United States.

3rd April-2024, Current Affairs:

• At least seven people were killed, while more than 700 others were injured after an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale struck Taiwan.
• Savitri Jindal tops the list of richest women in the country with a net worth of $35.5 billion. She is the chairperson of the Jindal Group, a conglomerate with interests in steel, power, cement, and infrastructure.
• The Indian economy is projected to grow at 7.5 per cent in 2024, the World Bank has said, revising its earlier projections for the same period by 1.2 per cent.
• Luís Montenegro sworn in as the Prime Minister of the Portuguese Republic.

• Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi has informed that for the first time ever, India’s coal and lignite production has crossed one Billion tonnes.
• Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh has said that for the first time the country’s defence Exports have crossed 21 thousand crore rupees mark in 2023-24.
• Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden defeated Croatia’s Ivan Dodic and American Austin Krajicek 6-7, 6-3, 10-6 to clinched men’s doubles final at the Miami Open on Saturday. The 44-year-old Bopanna became the oldest man to win an ATP Masters 1000 title and the second Indian to reach the finals of all nine ATP Masters 1000 events.
