• An army soldier killed five colleagues before killing himself in Safa Pora camp, Srinagar.
• Janata Dal-United today expelled its senior leader Shivanand Tiwari from the party.
• Indian Navy confirms the killing of two officers who were missing since the fire on board submarine INS Sindhuratna.

26th February:
• Navy Chief Admiral DK Joshi has resigned following submarine accident in which fire broke out in Indian Navy submarine INS Sindhuratna.
• The Supreme Court issued a non bailable warrant against Sahara group chief Subrata Roy for failing to appear before the apex court.

• Asia Cup cricket tournament starts in Bangladesh.

24th February:
• India has dropped anti-piracy charges against Italian marines who are accused of killing two Indian fishermen.
• Oleksandr Turchynov was named as the interim President of Ukraine.

• Next Winter Olympics will be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea in 2018.

• South Africa batsman AB de Villiers became the first player in the history of Test cricket to score a half-century in 12 consecutive Tests.

• Today is the last day of the parliament before the general elections, 2014.
• Parliament passed the Whistleblowers' Protection Bill to provide adequate protection to RTI workers.
• Ukraine opposition leaders signed an EU-mediated peace deal with President Viktor Yanukovich to end violent protest and for an early presidential election.
• Saradha Group chairman Sudipto Sen got three year imprisonment by a court.

• Telangana statehood bill passed by the Rajya Sabha.
• Supreme Court suspended the Tamil Nadu government's decision to release seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
• Supreme Court gives adoption rights to Muslims, Christians, Jews, Parsis and all other communities under the Juvenile Justice which was previously restricted to only Hindus, Buddhists and Jains.
• Facebook decided to buy smartphone messaging service WhatsApp for $19 billion.

• Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned as Andhra Pradesh chief minister over the move to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
• BJP named Dr. Harsh Vardhan as the president of its Delhi unit.
• Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw appointed as the new chairperson of Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B).

• Lok Sabha passed the Telangana bill by voice vote.
• Supreme Court commuted the death sentences of three assassins (Santhan, Perarivalan and Murugan) of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to life imprisonment.
• New Zealand wins the two test match series 1-0 against India.

• The finance minister P. Chidambaram presented the interim budget in parliament.

13th February:
• The Lok Sabha erupted in when some MP from Andhra Pradesh fired pepper spray, broke glass table and snapped the wire in parliament in protest against a bill on a new Telangana state.
• The U.S. Ambassador to India Nancy Powell met BJP leader Narendra Modi in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
• Assam became the first state in India to legally ban the consumption,manufacture, advertisement, storage, trade and distribution of all forms of smokeless tobacco.
• Delhi government approved the Delhi Nagar Swaraj Bill.

• Interim rail budget presented in the Parliament. 72 new trains introduce in the budget.
• The annual consumer price inflation to a 24-month low of 8.79 percent in January
• The IPL 7 auction takes place. Yuvraj Singh drew the biggest bid with Royal Challengers Bangalore clinching his services for Rs 14 crore.
• Karnataka wins the Irani Trophy final with an innings and 222 runs.

11th February:
• 103 people kill when a military plane crashed in eastern Algeria.
• Talks between Vodafone and Indian Govt fails after the government decided to withdraw its conciliation proposal to sort out the tax dispute due to which Vodafone may now have to pay Rs.20,000 crore as tax dues.
• IOC lifted the ban on the Indian Olympic association.
• BCCI announced the cricket teams for the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup.

10th February:
• Nepal's parliament elected Sushil Koirala as the next Prime Minister.
• Gurunath Meiyappan has been indicted for illegal betting in last year's Indian Premier League in a report submitted by retired judge Mukul Mudgal.

9th February:
• According to a report of the drinking water and sanitation ministry, Sikkim become India's first state with 100 percent sanitation coverage.
• Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra became the first individual to win three gold medals in Inter Shoot Tri series being held at Hague, Netherlands.
• World Squash Federation president N. Ramachandran elected unopposed as president of Indian Olympic Association.

• Maruti Suzuki India has stopped production of Maruti 800.
• The International Cricket Council (ICC) board announced that BCCI president N. Srinivasan will be the Chairman of the ICC board from July.

7th February:
• The Union Cabinet approved the Telangana bill.
• Winter Olympics starts in Sochi, Russia.
• Three Indian athletes Shiva Keshavan, Himanshu Thakur and Nadeem Iqbal are competing as independent athletes in Winter Olympics due to IOA's (Indian Olympic Association) suspension by the International Olympic Committee.

6th February:
• Delhi Government ask anti-corruption officials file an FIR against former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for an alleged Rs. 31-crore scam crafted around expensive street-lighting for the Commonwealth Games in 2010.
• Sony Company announces that it will sell its personal computer (PC) unit and cut 5,000 jobs.

• Justice Askhok Kumar Mathur has been appointed as the Chairman of the 7th Pay Commission.

• Karnataka wins their seventh Ranji Trophy cricket title after beating Maharashtra by seven wickets in the final in Hyderabad.
