• India has achieved 34 medals- eight gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze at the Asian Games 2023 so far in Hangzhou, China. The country currently stands at the 4th position on the scoreboard.
• ICC announces official mascots 'Blaze' and 'Tonk' for Cricket World Cup 2023 after fans vote. 'Blaze' is a female mascot, bowling at rapid pace, leaving batters in sheer awe. 'Tonk' is a male mascot, with icy-cool composure, making him a batting champion.

28th September, Current Affairs:

• Renowned agricultural scientist and the "Father of India's Green Revolution", MS Swaminathan, died this morning in Chennai at the age of 98.
• The Times Higher Education released the World University Rankings 2024. The University of Oxford in the United Kingdom tops the World University Rankings for the consecutive eighth year. The second best university in the list is the Stanford University followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University and University of Cambridge.

27th September, Current Affairs:

• Malayalam film 2018 is India official entry for the Oscars, subtitled Everyone Is A Hero, is a survival drama about the floods that devastated Kerala in 2018. It is Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph.
• India's Sift Kaur Samra bagged a gold while Ashi Chouksey got a bronze medal in the women's 50 m rifle 3P individual final at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou. With this, India has its ninth medal in shooting currently at the event and its fifth overall gold medal at the Asian Games Hangzhou.
• World Tourism Day is being observed today.

• Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman will be conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke award. Waheeda Rehman has been chosen for Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award this year.
• The Indian Dressage Team clinched their first gold in equestrian for the first time in 41 years.

25th September, Current Affairs:

• The Indian men's 10m air rifle team created history as the trio of world champion Rudrankksh Patil, Olympian Divyansh Panwar and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar clinched the Gold medal in the Men's 10m Air Rifle eventin Asian Games. In the process, the trio broke the world record in a team event, aggregating a total score of 1893.7 in the qualification round.
• India women’s cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by 19 runs in the final to win a gold medal in the ongoing Asian Games 2023. This was India's second gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games.
• World Pharmacist Day is celebrated today.

23rd September, Current Affairs:

• The 19th Asian Games kick off at Hangzhou in the People’s Republic of China this evening. India's men's hockey team captain, Harmanpreet Singh, and ace boxer Lovlina Borgohain lead the contingent and carry the Indian flag in the Opening ceremony.
• After their 5-wicket win against Australia on Friday, India became the number 1 ranked team in all three formats i.e. Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.

• Parliament has given its nod to the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Eighth Amendment) Bill seeking to provide one-third reservation to reserve one-third of the total number of seats in Lok Sabha and State legislative assemblies for women.

• THE SACRED Ensembles of the Hoysalas, which includes three temples in Karnataka, has been inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The Hoysala Temples, as they are also known, will be India’s 42nd UNESCO World Heritage Site.

• Special Session of Parliament begins from today.
• Shantiniketan has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The decision to include Santiniketan in the list was taken during the 45th session of the World Heritage Committee currently underway in Saudi Arabia. Established in 1901 by Maharshi Debendranath Tagore, father of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, Shantiniketan is located in Birbhum district of West Bengal.
• Asian Football Confederation Champions League to start from today. the first match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League in Pune today, Mumbai City FC will face Iran’s Nassaji Mazandaran at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi.
• Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan has won the gold medal in the women’s 10 metre air rifle event at the ISSF World Cup 2023 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a new scheme named PM Vishwakarma today at the International Convention and Expo Centre, Yashobhoomi, in New Delhi on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti.
• Prime Minster Narendra Modi launched the first phase of the International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), YashoBhoomi, in Delhi's Dwarka today. ashoBhoomi is going to be one of the world’s largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities with a project area of over 8.9 lakh square metres and a total built-up area of more than 1.8 lakh square metres.
• Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finished second in the men’s event at the Diamond League Final in Eugene, Oregon, USA last night. The Indian's best throw of 83.80 meter came in his second attempt.
• India defeated Sri Lanka in a one-sided final to win the Asia Cup for the 8th time. Mohammed Siraj took 6 for 21 as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 50, the lowest ODI team total against India.

• U.S., India, Saudi Arabia, UAE, France, Germany, Italy and EU finalized a historic agreement for a new India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. The project would comprise of two separate corridors, an eastern corridor connecting India to the Gulf region and a northern corridor connecting the Gulf region to Europe. The corridor will include a railway and ship-rail transit network and road transport routes.
• The 18th G20 Summit successfully concluded in New Delhi today with India handing over the Presidency to Brazil.
• India’s first solar mission, Aditya L1 has successfully performed the third earth-bound manoeuvre early morning today.
• Coco Gauff defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the final of the US Open 2023 to win her maiden Grand Slam women’s singles title. It took Gauff two hours and six minutes to win the match 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

• The 18th G20 Leaders' Summit begin at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today. It is chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

• The African Union became a permanent member of the G20. Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially welcomes the African Union as a permanent member of the G20.
• At least 820 people were killed and dozens sustained injuries after a powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.8 struck central Morocco late on Friday.
• In US Open Tennis, Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden lost the final match of men's doubles against Rajeev Ram-Joe Salisbury in New York.

• US President Joe Biden has arrived in Delhi for the G20 Leaders Summit beginning on Saturday. He will hold bilateral talks with PM Modi this evening.
• Several Global leaders arrived in the national capital to attend the G20 Summit. They include UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, President of Argentina Alberto Fernandez, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi Sultan of Oman Haitham Bin Tarik, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

• Former Zimbabwe cricket team captain Heath Streak dies at 49. He was one of the most decorated cricketers of his time, representing Zimbabwe in 65 Tests, 189 ODIs while scoring 4933 runs and taking 455 wickets for his country across formats.
• In Hockey, India beat Pakistan in penalty shootout in the final to win the inaugural Men’s Hockey 5s Asia Cup 2023 in Salalah, Oman. The win also served as Asia’s qualifying tournament for the FIH Men’s Hockey5s World Cup Oman 2024.

• Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in an alleged ₹ 538 crore money laundering case linked to Canara Bank.
• India's first solar space observatory mission has been launched on the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) XL from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. Aditya-L1 is India's first solar space observatory. It will carry seven different payloads to have a detailed study of the sun, four of which will observe the light from the sun and the other three will measure in-situ parameters of the plasma and magnetic fields.
• Indian-origin economist Tharman Shanmugaratnam wins the Presidential election in Singapore.

• India's naval warship Mahendragiri launches in Mumbai. The ship is designed by the Indian Navy's in-house design organization viz. Warship Design Bureau.
