IBPS PO Bank Exams

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is an autonomous body which conduct exam every year for recruiting graduate candidates to Public Sector Banks as Probationary Officer. IBPS offers recruitment services to all Public-Sector Banks, SBI, Associate Banks of SBI, RBI, NABARD, SIDBI, LIC & Insurance companies and regular member Banks of the IBPS society. IBPS, an autonomous body, has received mandate from the organisations to conduct the recruitment process. Any eligible candidate, who aspires to join any of the Participating Organisations as a Probationary Officer/ Management Trainee or in a similar post in that cadre, is required to register for the Common Recruitment Process (CWE PO/MT-VII). The examination is conducted in two phases: Preliminary and Main. Both the exam conducted online in selected exam centres across India. 

Candidates who qualify in Preliminary examination are shortlisted to appear in the Main examination and shortlisted candidates in the Main examination will subsequently be called for a Common Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organisations and co-ordinated by the Nodal Bank. Depending on the final vacancies to be filled, candidates shortlisted will be provisionally allotted to one of the Participating Organisations keeping in view the spirit of Govt. Guidelines on reservation policy, administrative convenience, etc.

 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Nationality / Citizenship: 

A candidate must be either a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan or a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age:

The age of the candidate should be minimum 20 years and maximum 30 years.

Educational Qualifications:

Candidate must have Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.

PRE-EXAMINATION TRAINING:

Pre-Examination Training may be arranged by the Nodal Banks/ Participating Organisations to a limited number of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes/ Minority Communities at certain centres.

All eligible candidates who opt for and wish to avail of Pre-Examination Training should fill in the relevant column in the online application. The training is conducted free of cost,but all other expenses regarding travelling, boarding and lodging will have to be borne by the candidate.

CWE – ONLINE EXAMINATIONS:

Preliminary Examination:

The preliminary examination is held online and time duration is of 1 hour. The exam has three sections as of follows:

 Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS.

Main Examination:

The main examination consists of both objective and subjective questions.  An essay and a letter will be given to candidates to write that will constitute of 25 marks and that has to be completed in a time span of 30 minutes. The overall time allotted for IBPS PO Mains Exam is 180 minutes.

Penalty for Wrong Answers (Applicable to both – Preliminary and Main examination):

There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score.

Cut-off Score:

Depending on the number of vacancies available, cut-offs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for interview.

INTERVIEW:

Candidates who qualify the Mains Exam are finally called for the Interview Process by IBPS. The Interview constitute of 100 marks and the minimum marks for qualifying this round will be 40% which is reduced to 35% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories.

A candidate should qualify both in the CWE (Main) and interview and be sufficiently high in the merit to be shortlisted for subsequent provisional allotment process, details of which are made available subsequently on authorised IBPS website.
