Q71. Four milkmen rented a pasture. A grazed 18 cows for 4 months, B 25 cows for 2 months, C 28 cows for 5 months and D 21 cows for 3 months. If A's share of rent is Rs. 360, the total rent of the field is
(a) 1522
(b) 1532
(c) 1625
(d) 1725
Answer: (c) 1625
ratio of rents = 18 X 4 : 25 X 2 : 28 X 5 : 21 X 3 = 72 : 50 : 140 : 63
Let the total rent be Rs. x
∴ A's share = Rs. | 72 | X x |
325 |
A/Q | 72x | = 360 |
325 |
⇒ x = | 360 X 325 | = 1625 |

Q72. A, B and C enter into partnership. A initially invests Rs. 40 thousands and adds another Rs. 10 thousand after one year. B initially invests Rs. 45 thousand and withdraw Rs. 5 thousand after 2 years and C invests Rs. 30 thousand. In what ratio should the profits be divided at the end of 3 years ?
(a) 14 : 13 : 9
(b) 14 : 12 : 8
(c) 15 : 11 : 9
(d) 15 : 8 : 10
Answer: (a) 14 : 13 : 9
A's investment = Rs. (40000 X 1 + 50000 X 2) = Rs. 140000
B's investment = Rs. (45000 X 2 + 40000 X 1) = Rs. 130000
C's investment = Rs. (30000 X 3) = Rs. 90000
A : B : C = 140000 : 130000 : 90000 = 14 : 13 : 9
Q73. A, B, C started a shop by investing Rs. 25000, Rs. 50000 and Rs. 75000 respectively. At the end of one year, A's share of total profit was Rs. 10000. What was the total profit
(a) 57,000
(b) 60,000
(c) 63,000
(d) 66,000
Answer: (b) 60,000
Let, the total profit be Rs. x
A : B : C = 25000 : 50000 : 75000 = 1 : 2 : 3
A's profit = Rs. | 1 | X x |
1 + 2 + 3 |
=Rs. x/6
A/Q x/6 = 10000
⇒ x = 60,000
