RBI Grade B Exam
Reserve Bank of India conducted Grade B exams every year for direct appointment in the officer level. Once selected, candidates have to undergo two years’ probation period, which could get extended to four years depending upon the performance of the candidates. Grade ‘B’ officers appointed as Managers in RBI after they clear RBI Grade ‘B’ Exam. Grade ‘B’ officer is the only direct officer level entry into Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The exam is conducted for Officers in Gr B (DR) - General, Officers in Gr B (DR) – DEPR and Officers in Gr B (DR) – DSIM posts.
Interested candidates must apply only online through the Bank's website
i.e. www.rbi.org.in. No other means or modes of applications are accepted.
Candidates will have to enter their basic details and upload the photograph,
signature, left thumb impression and a hand-written declaration in the
online application form as per the specifications given. Candidates have to
make the payment of through the online mode only. The payment can be made by
using Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet
Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets.
Before applying online,
candidates should scan copy of their photograph, signature, left thumb
impression and a hand-written declaration ensuring that the all these
scanned documents adhere to the required specifications as given in the
official notification.
For the post in Officers in Grade 'B' (DR) - General:
A candidate
must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of
30 years. For candidates possessing M.Phil. and Ph.D. qualification, upper
age limit will be 32 and 34 years respectively. Also there is age relaxation
for SC/ST/PwBD candidates as per govt. norms
Candidate have to scores
a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent grade in Bachelor's degree as well
as in 12th (or Diploma or equivalent) and 10th Standard examinations to
apply in the Officers in Grade 'B' (DR)-(General) Post. Candidates belonging
to SC/ST/PwBD category have to score 60% marks or an equivalent grade in
Bachelor's degree as well as in 12th (or Diploma or equivalent) and 10th
Standard examinations to apply.
For the post in Officers in Grade 'B'
(DR) - DEPR:
A Master's Degree in Economics / Econometrics /
Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics
Course/ Finance, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in
aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised Indian or Foreign
University /Institute; OR
PGDM/ MBA Finance with a minimum of 55% marks
or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a
recognised Indian or Foreign University/Institute; OR
Master’s Degree in
Economics in any of the sub-categories of economics i.e. agricultural/
business/ developmental/ applied, etc., with a minimum of 55% marks or an
equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised
Indian or Foreign University /Institute.
For the post of Officers in
Grade 'B' (DR) - DSIM :
A Master's Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical
Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics
from IIT-Kharagpur/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a
minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /
years; OR
Master's Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or
an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years and one year post
graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an Institute of
repute; OR
M. Stat. Degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum
of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters / years; OR
Post Graduate
Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT
Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade
in aggregate of all semesters/years.
Also General Category
candidates, who have already appeared Six times for Phase-I Examination for
the post in the past, are not eligible to apply. There is no such
restriction applies to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/EWSs, if the
posts are reserved for them.
Phase I: The Phase I RBI Grade B exam consist of: General Awareness,
English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning.
Phase II: The
phase II exam is consist of three online papers. First one is on Economic
and Social Issues. It is an objective type paper with 100 marks. The time
allocated is 90 minutes.
The second paper is on English writing
skills. It is a descriptive type paper to be typed with the help of the
keyboard. This paper also carry 100 marks and to be completed within 90
minutes.
The third paper is an objective type paper on Finance and
Management. The paper carries 100 marks to be completed within 90 minutes.
Phase II: The phase II exam is consist of three online papers.
First paper is on Economic. It is an objective type paper with 100 marks.
The time allocated is 120 minutes.
The second paper is descriptive
type paper on Economics. Question paper displayed on computer, answers to be
written on paper. This paper also carry 100 marks and to be completed within
180 minutes.
The third paper is on English writing skills. It is a
descriptive type paper to be typed with the help of the keyboard. This paper
also carry 100 marks and to be completed within 90 minutes.
Phase II:
First one is on Statistics. It is an objective type
paper with 100 marks. The time allocated is 120 minutes.
The second
paper is descriptive type paper on Statistics. Question paper displayed on
computer, answers to be written on paper. This paper also carry 100 marks
and to be completed within 180 minutes.
The third paper is on English
writing skills. It is a descriptive type paper to be typed with the help of
the keyboard. This paper also carry 100 marks and to be completed within 90
minutes.
The RBI Grade B is an online examination. The Grade B officers are
recruited through 3 tier recruitment process (Phase I, Phase II and
Interview). The examination is conducted in selected exam centres across
India. Candidates will have to specify their preferred exam centre during
the online application submission.
Phase-I:
The Phase I
online examination comprises a single Paper for 200 marks. A total time of
120 minutes will be given for answering. Depending on the number of
candidates, the examination may be held in multiple shifts and on some other
days also. A candidate, however, must appear for examination in only one
shift on the given day.
Candidates, who secure minimum marks
separately for each Test, as prescribed, will be shortlisted for Phase-II of
the examination based on the aggregate marks obtained in Phase-I.
Phase-II:
The Phase-II examination is again conducted on online
mode. Candidates who qualified in the first Phase are eligible to appear in
the Phase II. Candidates have to appear in all three papers. The Phase-II
examination is conducted in shifts. Candidates are required to appear for
all shifts. Separate Admission Letters will be issued for each shift.
Interview: Candidates who are qualified in the Phase II are shortlisted
for the interview, based on aggregate of marks obtained in Phase-II (Paper-I
+Paper-II +Paper-III).
Interview is conducted for 50 marks. Candidate
may opt for interview either in Hindi or English. Final Selection will be
through merit list which will be prepared by adding marks secured by
candidates in Phase-II examination and interview.
